Not sure if it’s a big job? Call before you spend a dollar.

Leaking valve, stuck timer, brown spot that keeps growing. Send photos or call and we’ll tell you what’s likely going on. Many fixes you can do yourself, and we’ll say so. Plenty of our customers first met us that way.

Sound familiar?

What Long Beach homeowners tell us when they call

Whether you’re near the coast or further inland, the complaints are surprisingly similar, and so are the fixes.

1. The grass looks great for a month, then thins out.

Usually: No organic matter in the soil, so nothing feeds the roots.

What we do: Till in a full 3″ of compost.

2. Water runs off my lawn into the street.

Usually: Compacted ground that can’t absorb water.

What we do: Loosen the soil 6–8″ deep so it soaks in.

3. Weeds come back every few weeks.

Usually: Roots left behind from the old lawn.

What we do: Clear everything out, then till before anything new goes in.

4. My sprinklers hit the fence and miss the grass.

Usually: Old heads or bad spacing.

What we do: Repair or reroute the zones so coverage is even.

5. My lot is small and access is tight.

No problem. We work by hand and with compact equipment where trucks can’t reach, including narrow side yards and alley-access homes.

6. Just tell me the price up front.

You get an itemized bid onsite. Labor, materials, hauling and dump fees are each listed on their own line.

Why our lawns last

The hidden work that decides whether your lawn survives

Laying sod takes an afternoon. What makes it last is everything underneath. Long Beach soil ranges from sandy near the coast to heavy and compacted further in, so we adjust the mix to your yard, but we never skip a step.

Our main amendment is composted horse manure, used generously, so the lawn is fed naturally for years instead of depending on a quick dose of chemical fertilizer.

1

Clear out the old lawn and weeds

Roots included, so nothing regrows through the new grass.

2

Loosen the ground by hand, 6–8" down

Pick and spade work gives the tiller room to go deep.

3

Rototill 6–8" deep

Opens up compacted soil so roots can spread.

4

Spread 3" of organic compost

Real organic matter, not a light dusting.

5

Till again to blend it in

Compost mixed through the whole root zone, where it does the work.

6

Check and repair the sprinkler zones

Before the lawn goes down, while everything is still accessible.

7

Smooth the soil and lay the sod

Then we tell you exactly how to water it for the first weeks.
